Meet Yan

hello.

do you know that feeling? that feeling of being homesick? of longing for a sense of safety and security? something, or someone familiar? its an emptiness so big and black, that you wonder how you’ll ever fill it up with color again?

see, i know that feeling too. pretty well, i’m afraid.

and the images i create? they erase that feeling. and if you’re like me, you want the homesickness to go away forever. you want to surround yourself with images of the people you love. you want to be able to look back through, at any given time, those sunset moments of life. you know about those too. they are the moments when just for a brief, bright moment of colorful brilliance, you realize that everything in your life is okay. more than okay, quite beautiful.

My images are all about sunset moments.

My name is Yan. My life is full of love. My lens if full of insight and joy. I’m a quiet observer, I’m a wild entertainer. I work with film because its the only medium that captures the soul of a moment. i would so, so, so love to meet you.

Laura Blomstedt - hi yan!

so, this past semester i stumbled across and have fallen in love with kinfolk magazine. it probably embodies things i love most: food, photography, and friends. i have searched several of the collaborating artists and saw that you live in denver, which is where i would love to be someday soon! your work is inspiring and i have enjoyed scrolling through your photos! i am currently an art student at the university of north texas which is located just north of dallas. i am graduating in may and am seriously considering moving to denver. i am looking to get connected to the creative scene and would love to find a job in that community. seeing that you are a seasoned photographer and artist, i thought it wouldn’t hurt to email you and see if there is anyone or anything you could direct me to in order to find an internship or a job. i have a degree in interdisciplinary art and design studies with a minor in journalism. i love photography, any type of creative work, and writing. i would absolutely love to hear from you, if nothing more than a simple hello :) thanks yan!

Monica Sweeney - Hi Yan,

I found your work on Brooke Schwab’s blog – the images you captured for her family are tremendous! Are you located in Houston?

There are two purposes for contacting you – I would love to have a family session done by you! Can you send the details about that to me?

My other purpose is to find out what camera you use for shooting film – I want to learn to shoot film (I currently shoot digitally) and have a couple of cameras that I’m considering, but would love to hear what you shoot with.

Thanks so much for your time,
Monica
